As for the reference of the criminal targeting the person with a gun first, that is definitly a risk How would you like to be that guy being targeted first?

But first please answer the question, where would you allow open carry?
Anywhere you can carry one in your pocket.

Currently it is legal for you, without a CHL, to carry your pistol to and from your vehicle. Where else do you go Krakr where you feel so unsecure you need to wear a pistol on your hip?

Alot of good that's going to do you when someone walks in the gas station your in to rob it. What are you going to do? Ask him to wait until you get your piece out of the car?

According to the current law business owners have the right to display signs that read you can't have your gun in their business. So you could still be in a jam according to your idea that we shuold apply the same CHL laws to open carry, that is to say, you might have to leave your piece in the car anyway (actually, if they have the sign and you have your gun, you can't even pull into their parking lot legally - sucks if you're out of gas or need to shit). At least with CHL you can keep it hidden, and claim you missed the sign. But with it hang'n off your hip you would most likely be told to leave the store and get off the property.
So again, you are safer and more powerful with your pistol concealed.

Really? That's your response? That it's easier to get away with breaking the rules by carrying concealed?

I thought you were all for self-protection?
No, I think it would be better to follow the rules. But in certain situations it could be necessary. And certainly safer.
Consider the analogy of a dog’s teeth. When you see a dog and it keeps it mouth shut it is a nice friendly dog.
But when the dog shows its teeth and threatens you, you realize there is a chance the dog could harm you.
So when you’re showing your teeth, your handgun, your killing machine designed to kill humans, on your hip, you are threatening people the same as a dog showing its teeth.

I thought you were all for self-protection? I'm for the government keeping their nose out of it. If a person buys a gun legally and goes through the background check, they should be able to carry it any way they want. To have to go to the government to ask for a permit to carry it outside of your house after you've bought the gun is just stupid. The right to bear arms doesn't do much good if the arms are at home, where most likely, you won't even need them if you keep your doors & windows locked. It's not up to me or you or anybody to decide how and when a law abiding citizen can carry. It should be up to the individual carrying the gun.

So prior to this conversation you were all for open carry while applying current CHL laws to the places you'd be allowed open carry... Now you just want to be able to carry your pistol (open or concealed?) outside of your house to anywhere you want? The Government does not need to stay out of this. I don't want parents walking into public schools with guns (just refer to my list) and if people do there should be consequnces. It's not up to me or you or anybody to decide how and when a law abiding citizen can carry. Yes it is up to me if it's on my property or around my wife and kids.

The Government does not need to stay out of this.
So going by what you are saying, we should continue to regulate how people carry their firearms because some people are scared of firearms? Since there are still people who are scared of marijuana, should we continue to regulate it in the manner that we are? If someone is scared of what you have to say, should we start regulating your free speech?

And concealed carry will help you regulate this how? I'll have my concealed weapon (or my wife will have hers) when out taking care of day-to-day business, and we won't have to worry about out personal safety. Concealed carry is the right way to carry, that's what I'm saying. Edited by: krAzykrAkr01 Reason: Fixed quotes

If someone is scared of what you have to say, should we start regulating your free speech? Of course not, besides, your argument is a false analogy. You can't compare your right to carry a deadly weapon in a peaceful society with your right to sit at home and smoke pot, or your right to free speech.
