You can't compare your right to carry a deadly weapon in a peaceful society with your right to sit at home and smoke pot, or your right to free speech. 1. It's not the weapon that is deadly. It is the person wielding it. Put a gun on the table and don't touch it. See how many people it kills. 2. If we had a peaceful society, we wouldn't be having this discussion. There wouldn't be a need for guns for self defense.

Concealed carry is the right way to carry, that's what I'm saying.
As you stated before, that is your opinion as ridiculous as it may be - and you are entitled to it.

If you don't beleive a hand gun is a deadly weapon you're living a lie. A car is also a deadly weapon, and so is a dog, as are many other things we have laws to protect people from.
Only in a utopia would there be no need for self defense, cops or guns. And we don't live in a utopia.
Having our handguns concealed helps us maintain as peacful a society as we can expect. Having our handguns hanging off our hips we create a non-peaceful soceity. Your ideas will work against your true goal.

How many people did the gun you put on the table kill? Mine has been sitting in front of me for about 3 years and never killed anyone.

Tired of debaiting the merits of concealed carry so you want to move on to a brainless discussion about how your handgun is still a deadly weapon even though it's sitting on your table - WTF?
I have no idea what point you are attempting to make but yes, it is only a tool when it is handled proplely, and it is ALWAYS a deadly weapon. The fact that it is sitting on the table does not take away from that fact, actually that could increase the fact and chances of being used as a deadly weapon (since it is not on you personally it is not really in your control).
Just like a dog tied to a leash, a dog on a leash is still a deadly weapon - the leash can be broken, and the dog could kill... so you better carry your concealed handgun at all times and don't leave it on your table.
Consider fire, that is is deadly weapon too - and is only okay when under control.
AND YOU HAVE MORE CONTROL WHEN YOU'RE NOT WALKING AROUND ADVERTISING YOU HAVE A HANDGUN!!!
In boxing we call that "telegraphing your punch", that is when someone pulls back to hit - pulling their arm back first let's the opponent know what is coming. It is a huge mistake to let your enemy know your plans.

Yes it is, and you need'nt get so upset just 'cause you can't come up with a good argument for open carry - I'm not upset. That was just a quote from earlier. Now, the original poster may have been upset because the only argument he has against it is that when law abiding citizens strap a gun to their hip, they become terrorists. Very flimsy. Orig: Of course, that is your opinion as ridiculas as it may be - and you are entitled to it.

So you honestly beleive that carrying a gun on your hip won't scare the shit out of people?
That carrying a gun on your hip won't disturb the peace and actually make us more unsafe because we are telegraphing to the criminal to take out the person with the side arm first?
That if allowed, we won't have situations where people stare down their neighbors with their hand on their gun...
Or when cut-off on the HWY people won't hold it up in the air to show other drivers what a big powerful person they are (that is a threat and you know it - so where draw the line at open carry Krakr)?
don't you see these things are threatening and scary (that's why people do it - to scare/terrorize, even Sniper admitted to it) or are you blind man?
Only a coward wants go around scaring and terrorizing people. Be a man and conceal your weapon, you will still have it to use when you wish, and it won't make you any less powerful.

You see? That is the whole plan. If he knows my plans then he knows I'm going to kill him if he tries anything. That is exactly what I want him to know. Hopefully, he'll move on down the road for easier targets, then I won't have to kill him. Mission accomplished. If he doesn't and I have to kill him, at least I know he knew the score when he walked up and I had no other choice. Once you've pulled that gun from it's holster, concealed or open, the time for talking is over. It's time to start shooting.

Be a man and let people live their own life. Just because it's your opinion doesn't mean it's the right one for everybody. In the article it says that Texas is actually one of the few states that doesn't allow open carry. Where are all these terrorized people from these other states? Wouldn't we have heard from them on this somewhere?

Don't you think the bad guy would just shoot you in the back of the head before you can even konw he's there? I mean c'mon, be realistic. Oh I'm a bad guy and I see someone with a gun on their hip preventing my crime, I think I'll go confront them head-on.... yeah right.

Why? Because he wants to elevate his status from petty criminal to murderer? No silly, because the criminals intent is to complete the crime - and get away... remember??? And he is not going to shoot you "either way" for the reason you just stated (but he might if he knew you were going to draw on him)... so with our pistols concealed we are safer and have a much better chance at the opportunity to fight. And we don't have to scare anyone with it concealed.

Only a fool and a coward goes looking to kill someone. I would prefer to avoid that.

If you lived where I live, you wouldn't be to worried about how many gang bangers and thugs you scared. Different environments breed different opinions.
