Feel the POWER of the darkside!!!

Quote
A security consultant based in New Zealand has released a tool that can unlock Windows computers in seconds without the need for a password.

Adam Boileau first demonstrated the hack, which affects Windows XP computers but has not yet been tested with Windows Vista, at a security conference in Sydney in 2006, but Microsoft has yet to develop a fix.

Quote
To use the tool, hackers must connect a Linux-based computer to a Firewire port on the target machine. The machine is then tricked into allowing the attacking computer to have read and write access to its memory.

With full access to the memory, the tool can then modify Windows' password protection code, which is stored there, and render it ineffective.

Quote
Older desktop computers do not come equipped with Firewire ports, which are needed for the hack to work, but many recent models do. Most laptops made in the last few years include Firewire ports.
I don't know about that. I am using a P3 compaq that is pretty old (at least eight years), and it's got a firewire port.

Quote
Microsoft was unavailable for comment at the time of publication.
Big surprise!! LMAO

Full Story

Why the hell do the stupid still use Micro$oft? Let me tell you about something called computing bliss. I have been using linux (Slackware 12) for about a year now and not once have I picked up a virus or any spyware. You would think that I must have found the ultimate anti-virus software, right? Wrong. I don't run any AV. Oh, well you must have installed a really good firewall? Nope. I only run the one in the router. No software, memory eating firewall at all. Speaking of memory, I have never seen this computer use all the 384 MB of memory. It's sitting @ 45% used right now. That's about 180 MB (right click on the toolbar and bring up the task mgr. Go to the performance tab and see how much your windows machine is using right now). Oh, well you must not have any programs running? No again. I got Firefox (browser), Thunderbird (email client), gFTP (ftp browser), Pidgin (instant messenger that is running yahoo, aol, msn, icq, and myspace im at the same time) main window, and a chat window open.

So once again. Why do you stupid motherfuckers use windows?

That is my rant for the day. LOL

Yeah, and trucks haul ass but you don't see people racing them.

OS's have different uses for different software.  MAC = desktop publishing, PC = Business Class Computing, Linux = pain in the ass to work with (stable but not for the masses that don't really know how to compute).

And we won'd be moving and furniture in my 'vette either, it's for racing dummy.

And exactly how many different linux distributions have you used?

Linux=

1. Resource intensive computing. Example-research. Projects that produce huge amounts of data to be processed. Like big gravitational and infrared telescopes.

2. Embedded platforms. Most likely if you are using a router to hook to the internet, that router runs on linux embedded in the hardware.

3. Google. I read on their site that all the servers that serve the search results are linux and so are all the desktops that everyone in the offices use.

Ophcrack

I found this sweet little open source tool to help recover "lost" windows passwords.
(Note: This is for recovery of your own "lost passwords" on your own computers. The webmaster or krAzykrAkr.com does not condone the hacking or cracking of hot computers)

That being said, I took it over to this chick's house to recover the passwords on a computer that was used by her son, but he passed away.

First I downloaded the live cd .iso from the link above, which is a live linux cd that boots in to RAM. Checked the md5 sum and burned it to a cd and that was it for setup. I got over to her house and popped the cd in and rebooted. Most windows pc's are already set up to boot off the cd first.

If it doesn't and just boots in to windows, reboot again and when the mfg screen comes up (the one that says "Dell" or "HP" or whatever kind of pc it is. This comes up right after you power the pc on, before windows starts to load), it should have two options that you can select with F buttons. One to go in to the bios/setup (usually F2) and one for a boot menu (usually F10 or F12). Press the F key for the boot menu and select to boot from the cd instead of the harddrive
(Pay close attention because the mfg screen goes by fast. If you miss it, you have to reboot. There is no way to get in to that menu once the actual windows boot process starts up).

When the cd boots up, a start screen will come up with 3 choices. One for GUI (Graphical User Interface), one choice that I didn't recognize, and one for text mode. I would suggest text mode as the entire kernel and basic OS are loading in to RAM. You will need a lot of RAM to run the basic OS and the GUI pw cracker (2GB wasn't enough). Once you choose text mode, it will automatically start going through the hashes that it has and you just wait for it to finish (mine took about 5 mins). When it does finish, it will have a list of all users on that pc and their passwords next to them. Write down the user names and passwords and press any key to continue. Once you press any key to continue after it's done, it will ask you if you want to reboot. Type "Y" and press enter. When the cd ejects remove it so it won't boot the cd again. When it reboots, pick a user name that it provided for you and enter the corresponding password. Bada Bing, Bada Boom, your in, and it's easier than shit.

Note: There are different cd's for XP and Vista. You must download the right one for your system.

Enjoy!!

Brought to you by Linux! FU M$!

That is kick ass, did you really try it yourself?  The reason I ask is 'cause I have NEVER known you to say (or write) "Bada Bing, Bada Boom."

Just curious to know if it's been tested by you KraKr...

Thnx for the post - INVALUBLE if you can't get in via safe mode and just create a new admin user (F8) which is what I've done, but that usually requires knowing or guessing the ADMIN account.

Yea. I tested it on two different pc's running XP. The only reason I used "Bada Bing, Bada Boom" is because it was so goddamn easy, that's about the only way to explain it. It was simple as hell. Boot off cd and choose mode. Within about 5mins I had the passwords.

Thank you for confirming.  You are now officially a pseudo yankee...  Anyone who says "bada bing bada boom" is New Jersey... a damn yankee.

Best regards to you Yankee. LMAO  (sory MotherF***** aren't I?.... Guess I'm in a pissy fighting mood lately)

I was born, raised, and still reside right here in Texas. It is technically impossible for me to be a yankee. I've never even been to a yankee state. I think you might be reaching on that one. If you just want someone to argue with, just ask. LMAO

Okay, good - don't want you to make an idiot of yourself in font of your southern clan... stay away from "bada bing bada boom" and no questions asked (can you tell I don't care for NJ attitude?).

Hey!  I'm just look'n out for ya!  That's what friends are for...!

Still, awesome post and I think it's fucking great knowledge.

Sincerly appreciate it and glad you shared with the world.  Way to go KraKr...!

BTW, don't be proud that you've never been to a yankee state.  There are many great yankee states... our country was founded in Mass and it is beautiful (Boston is incredible and I think you'd really soak up the history).

One day, visit... I truly believe you'll be glad you did.  And dying without that experience is cheating your life.

I agree. I wasn't saying that I was proud of it, just stating a fact to contradict your earlier statement. I've always wanted to go to Boston, Philadelphia, New York, and other places up the east coast where the country started. You're right, there is a lot of history there and I am very interested in history, and would love to see it.
