So when will you be able to start hosting accounts with FTP access and a control panel for the website administrating?

When I get off my ass and configure it to virtual hosting. It would be nice to find a free CMS program to administrate it. Especially if I am going to offer hosting to regular joes. But that's in the future. I'm spending most of my time looking for a job.

Then I got to set up ftp and dns. Then decide which url I'm going to use and point it to my server. I been looking for a control panel to install to maybe make things easier, but this all seems alot like work. LOL   Grin

Yea, its not too bad. I think one thing you would need first is multiple static IP's. I looked into ur current ip and it is in fact static, i dont know if you are paying for one or not, but if you arnt consider urself lucky. What i would like to see is some sort of FTP service. I would be willing to donate a HArd drive for some free ftp space. Not for a website but for some image hosting.

Nah, with the kind of server I run, I don't need multiple ip's. The biggest thing I need right now is a control panel to easily set up the users and permissions. That shit is a pain in the ass. I still aint got the ftp working across the LAN.  Grin

Yea, you are correct, I had Host Headers (IIS) on my windows server, which is the same thing as
Virtual Hosts (apache).
They both allow the web server to answer many different DNS names while using only one IP Address. But i do remember needing mulitple IP address's for something, maybe it was for a VPN i was hosting. I had a few of those, and if i remember correctly they need a dedicated static IP.

I dont understand why the FTP would be so difficult to setup, that was usualy cake for me, but then again it was in a different world.

Are you saying you need more windows?  LOL Tongue

Honestly, i had a very good CP for my server, but i never used it. They are more for the individual host account admins, but not server admin.

But again, different worlds

I also got to put the goodies behind a log in. When I start hosting ftp, then my ip starts showing up in people's favorites folder.  Wink
