You don't make sense. If I were President, I would want to surround myself with people that were most qualified for the job. Duh!

No you wouldn't... 'cause you still have to trust them.  It's a lot easier to get things done when you know the people working with you have the same beleifs and goals.

What, do you live in a fucking utopia?  'Cause that's what you're describing.  Hey!  We live in the real world.  How do you propose we weed it out?  Why do you beleive that is the way it was "set up" when so many of our founding fathers were masonic lodge members???  Do you honestly beleive they would want to be treated differently simply because they sourounded themselves with friends and associates they could trrust?  Friends that have promised them they would follow certain ways of life?  IMHO what they beleive is probably the best way since it practices being true, clean, honest, dependable, and perhaps most important of all, honorable.

With thousands of friends like that all over the world, no wonder the organization was once so scary and powerful (it's not anymore).
