Firefox Users Most Secure on Internet, Study Reveals
Quote
Mozilla Firefox fans might rest a little easier these days after a study released Tuesday revealed that its users are most secure on the Internet.
The study "Understanding the Web browser threat: Examination of vulnerable online Web browser populations and the "insecurity iceberg," was a collaborative effort conducted by researchers at The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Google and IBM (NYSE:IBM) Internet Security Services. The research offers a comprehensive analysis of Web browsers, particularly in the area of security. The study's aim was to analyze Web browser preference and behavior for people using the Internet.
Quote
The study concluded that of the hundreds of millions of users accessing Web browsers worldwide, more than 600 million were at risk of attack for not running the latest, most secure Web browser version as of June 2008.
Firefox users were far and away the most likely to use the latest version, with an overwhelming 83.3 percent running an updated browser on any given day.
Quote
Meanwhile, Microsoft (NSDQ:MSFT)'s Internet Explorer users ranked last in terms of safe browsing. Between January 2007 and June 2008, less than half of IE users -- 47.6 percent -- were running the most secure browser version during the same time period.

You just can't admitt windows has been useful to you, not even as a learning tool eh? Uh huh.
You know what? I been thinking about this for a couple of weeks and you might be right. Windows
IS
good for a learning tool. I have been using Linux for a year or so now and except for my server, I don't know of much fixing that has to be done, past initial setup. Other than SUSE not picking up my network adapter. Since I reformatted that partition, I have not had a problem with 3 different distros. The server is more setting up new shit or changing the settings as opposed to actually fixing something.
So, if I didn't start on windows, I probably wouldn't know shit, because you don't have to fix shit all the time on linux. LOL

25 essential Firefox add-ons for power users
Quote
5. FireFTP
FireFTP is an excellent bit of charityware – it's free, but donations are encouraged. It puts a fully featured FTP program right inside your browser.
6. Greasemonkey
The Swiss Army Knife of the Internet, Greasemonkey enables you to bend sites to your will through the power of JavaScript.
Quote
12. HideBad
Pretend you're busy working with this excellent boss key. Not only does HideBad replace the current tabs with safe ones, but it zaps your browsing history, too.
Quote
18. NoScript
Eliminate annoyances and security risks by blocking scripts and other executable content from sites you don't trust with NoScript.
Quote
24. FlashBlock
Flash is often used for in-page annoyances, so FlashBlock gets rid of all of it unless you specifically click on a bit of Flash content.
25. Adblock Plus
Adblock Plus eliminates invasive ads and makes some sites look very weird as a result.

Not bad.
Although I've been running IE 8 beta and it is FAST.
IE 8 Even has a compatibility mode for websites that suck and the code isn't right. That way they can still be displayed, and it works well... Very well actually.
And you know what Krakr? The fonts aren't all fucked up like FireFox and Safari (and so many others).
Happy Browsing - !

I use firefox everyday so let me save you the trouble. FF3 has been out for 5 months and released 2 security updates. FF does not and never has had monthly security updates. Enjoy your arbitrary code executed by a remote attacker. LOL
