What Bush and Batman Have in Common
By ANDREW KLAVAN SS-Storm Command Leader
July 25, 2008; Page A15

A cry for help goes out from a city beleaguered by violence and fear: A beam of light flashed into the night sky, the dark symbol of a bat projected onto the surface of the racing clouds . . .

Oh, wait a minute. That's not a bat, actually. In fact, when you trace the outline with your finger, it looks kind of like . . . a "W."

Warner Bros. Pictures
There seems to me no question that the Batman film "The Dark Knight," currently breaking every box office record in history, is at some level a paean of praise to the fortitude and moral courage that has been shown by George W. Bush in this time of terror and war. Like W, Batman is vilified and despised for confronting terrorists in the only terms they understand. Like W, Batman sometimes has to push the boundaries of civil rights to deal with an emergency, certain that he will re-establish those boundaries when the emergency is past.

Oh they are planning on giving back our freedoms.... Hmmm when is that going to be? When there is no terrorist around? Lets all hold our breaths for that day to come! And that's the reason "W" is despised? I thought it was his lies and his war profiteering that is why he is despised... Not to mention his lies to get us into a war... Oh and as a side note, how does it take moral courage to get rich off of war and death?

And like W, Batman understands that there is no moral equivalence between a free society -- in which people sometimes make the wrong choices -- and a criminal sect bent on destruction. The former must be cherished even in its moments of folly; the latter must be hounded to the gates of Hell.

Moments of folly! Is it folly to have a free society?

"The Dark Knight," then, is a conservative movie about the war on terror. And like another such film, last year's "300," "The Dark Knight" is making a fortune depicting the values and necessities that the Bush administration cannot seem to articulate for beans.

Values? Like war profiteering?

Conversely, time after time, left-wing films about the war on terror -- films like "In The Valley of Elah," "Rendition" and "Redacted" -- which preach moral equivalence and advocate surrender, that disrespect the military and their mission, that seem unable to distinguish the difference between America and Islamo-fascism, have bombed more spectacularly than Operation Shock and Awe.

Why is it then that left-wingers feel free to make their films direct and realistic, whereas Hollywood conservatives have to put on a mask in order to speak what they know to be the truth? Why is it, indeed, that the conservative values that power our defense -- values like morality, faith, self-sacrifice and the nobility of fighting for the right -- only appear in fantasy or comic-inspired films like "300," "Lord of the Rings," "Narnia," "Spiderman 3" and now "The Dark Knight"?

Because maybe they are just movies about comic books... Wow what a crazy concept...

The moment filmmakers take on the problem of Islamic terrorism in realistic films, suddenly those values vanish. The good guys become indistinguishable from the bad guys, and we end up denigrating the very heroes who defend us. Why should this be?

The answers to these questions seem to me to be embedded in the story of "The Dark Knight" itself: Doing what's right is hard, and speaking the truth is dangerous. Many have been abhorred for it, some killed, one crucified.

Only one crucified? And comparring Batman to Jesus? Bob Kane is rolling in his grave on that one. Hundreds of thousands of people have been crucified for their beliefs... not just one...Does anyone remeber an event called the Catholic Inquisition..... anyone?

Leftists frequently complain that right-wing morality is simplistic. Morality is relative, they say; nuanced, complex. They're wrong, of course, even on their own terms.

Left and right, all Americans know that freedom is better than slavery, that love is better than hate, kindness better than cruelty, tolerance better than bigotry. We don't always know how we know these things, and yet mysteriously we know them nonetheless.

So that is why we are constantly having more and more of our freedons taken away.... And maybe we know these things because they are taught to us by our parents... Just like if your daddy is a communist you learn communism..

The true complexity arises when we must defend these values in a world that does not universally embrace them -- when we reach the place where we must be intolerant in order to defend tolerance, or unkind in order to defend kindness, or hateful in order to defend what we love.

When heroes arise who take those difficult duties on themselves, it is tempting for the rest of us to turn our backs on them, to vilify them in order to protect our own appearance of righteousness. We prosecute and execrate the violent soldier or the cruel interrogator in order to parade ourselves as paragons of the peaceful values they preserve. As Gary Oldman's Commissioner Gordon says of the hated and hunted Batman, "He has to run away -- because we have to chase him."

Um yea, heroes don't get rich from wars.... but I know of a few people who did....

That's real moral complexity. And when our artistic community is ready to show that sometimes men must kill in order to preserve life; that sometimes they must violate their values in order to maintain those values; and that while movie stars may strut in the bright light of our adulation for pretending to be heroes, true heroes often must slink in the shadows, slump-shouldered and despised -- then and only then will we be able to pay President Bush his due and make good and true films about the war on terror.

Oh yea let me get advance tickets for that show...

Perhaps that's when Hollywood conservatives will be able to take off their masks and speak plainly in the light of day.

  What a FUCKING FUCKTARD!

You know, that's exactly the rationale that Al Quaeda probably uses so they can sleep at night, too. What are our values worth if we just toss them aside when they get in the way?
They also left out:
sometimes men must lie to protect the truth
sometimes men must torture to uphold human rights
sometimes men must kill women and children to preserve safety
sometimes men must incarcerate the innocent in order to maintain law and order
sometimes men must engage in terrorism to protect freedom

These are classic examples of Double Talk/Double Think that was described in the George Orwell book 1984. I wonder what they will say when someone comes to them and says:
sometimes men must kill people like you to save the world

Because if they made them realistic, then morons with the WSJ couldn't write fluff pieces like this to try to justify what Bush and his cronies are doing. People might get wind of just how criminal these people are. Hollywood and the Main Stream Media are all part of the propaganda arm of the gov't.

That is what they would like you to believe. In reality, a lot of movies and books have just what these guys are talking about. Hidden meanings. Only decipherable by those "in the know", so to speak. That is because these people that make the movies of today and the fiction books of yesterday are all tied in with these groups. There is shit hidden in plain view all around us, and most people just dismiss it as coincidence.

In the old days, people who practiced black magic, like "sorcerers" (but were usually just alchemists that knew how to use science to manipulate the physical world), that usually ended up being summoned as council to the king or monarch, used to carry a magic wand or staff. Know what those things were made of?
Wood from the Holly tree or Holly wood. Just another one of those strange coincidences, I'm sure.

No, they will be able to do this when we elect (haha) people that are not criminals with secret agendas, that can only be talked about when everyone in the room has given the appropriate handshake. If you speak plainly in the light of day about what these guys are doing, they go to jail.

Pro-Bush, even though they know he is scum? Hmmm, doesn't say much about their character, does it? Or maybe that sentence speaks volumes about the situation we find our entire country in today?

Ahh, you've stumbled on to a very important point. I've seen a lot of declassified government documents that deal with the imposing of martial law in an national emergency, along with the suspension of the Constitution. The one thing I have never see in those documents is how to come out of martial law and go back to a regular state of non-emergency. But, they really don't need to study that side of it, if they don't plan on it going back. That's probably why it is so secret. You don't plan a coup d’état in the open daylight. You do in secret, in the shadows. After everyone in the room has given the correct handshake.

Unfortunately, most people do. They don't want to know the truth. It might actually mean that they have a thought, without someone telling them what that thought should be. I've seen it posted all over the internet "If this really happened, why is the mainstream media not reporting it?".  Because they are owned by the same Zionist scum that is trying to bring down this country. They portray themselves as Jews in Israel, because the jews got the raw deal in WWII, and if you say anything like what I just said, you're anti-semitic. But, as everyone knows around here, that don't really bother me that much. It's all just propaganda.

That is because these people that make the movies of today and the fiction books of yesterday are all tied in with these groups. There is shit hidden in plain view all around us, and most people just dismiss it as coincidence.

And don't forget, we also have dudes that knew about this shit, and they try to warn us with their movies and books. And we're all too stupid and caught up in our daily lives to even notice it. One such person, I think, was Stanley Kubrick. Just think about all the conspiracy shit in Dr. Strangelove. That's pretty much what the whole movie is about. All the shit about the fluoride, the "krazy conspiracy" General that hi jacks the gov't base and tries to start WWIII by nuking Russia. The General (George C Scott) that doesn't really give a shit about his job or anything really, but covering his ass and talking to his hot girl on the phone in the war room. The ex-nazi scientist, Dr. Strangelove, in the war room, but he just can't shake those Nazi habits like zeig heil, the salute, and I'm sure many more habits we couldn't see. And of course, the regular joe's up in the bomber who are caught in the middle and probably won't survive the bombing run.

Then you got 2001, where even though we see the human race come so far from the monkeys to the space race, everything goes to disaster with just one little computer glitch. I think that whole movie is a warning not to let the computer get smarter than us. What you think is going to be a simple trip out to Jupiter, can all go wrong in the wink of an eye. And in the end, the only thing humans can trust is ourselves. When the computers shut down, it is up to us, and our ingenuity to keep us alive and finish the mission. Nobody even contemplated unhooking the computer from the ship until they were at the point of needing to unhook the computer. Probably not the best time to bring it up. It also deals with the fact that aliens may have helped us along in our evolution a little bit, and if you read the bible in literal terms, (not all that faith mumbo jumbo) I don't think there is any doubt that this may have happened. I think we'll know someday.

2010, while I know is not done by Kubrick, shows us how maybe the aliens/gods said "let their be light" and ignites the atmosphere of a gas giant planet that has plenty of fuel to start another star or sun. That seems a lot like what happens in Genesis. And don't forget, some of the chapters of the bible have been intentionally left out. Why? Because most of them talk about people that went up to heaven with "God" and then came back to earth later. If you take out all the faith bullshit, which was put in there to confuse the message, "God" just seems like some regular dude that, while he may have created us with technology of genetic engineering or cloning or something, does technology really make you a "God"? And also, the original word for "God" in Hebrew, which I am sure was translated from Egyptian, and translated by the Egyptians from some other earlier civilization, doesn't really mean the "all powerful creator" or the omnipotent "God" that most bible thumpers believe in. It means "those that came from the sky".

That's not what they are saying. They are trying to tell you that no matter how much W and his administration acts like the terrorists we "supposedly" are at war with, you must cherish them and hound the terrorists to the gates of Hell. See, you can always say something about "God" or the bible to turn off most peoples reasoning and rational thought. They go in to "faith" mode, and you can get them to believe anything. That's what that shit was thought up for. Then people buy right in to all this bullshit like this story.

Man, that story just pisses me off more and more everytime I see it. It is so fucking matter of fact and just right in your face. Like this guy's just reporting business as usual (disclaimer: I DO UNDERSTAND THIS IS AN OPINION ARTICLE). It's like a fucking digital blowjob for GWB.

PS-I had to put a link to the actual story in your original post. I don't want people thinking we just made this up.

Oh I know that is not what they are actually saying but it might as well be. And I get he is just writing propaganda for the Bush admisnistration, but for fucks sake he is so matter of fact on how Bush is a misunderstood hero just makes me want to puke.... I mean did you even get the absolute bs he spouted, he refered to Jesus as a comparrison to Bush going to war against terrorist. JESUS! If the bible is to believed he fucking died because he would not lower himself to the level of the Roman Empires soldiers and did not fight or kill...Jesus believed to kill your fellow man was a crime regardless of the circumstances... That comparrison is so off base it's beyond ridiculous and is absolutly insane. With that one statement he totally invalidates his entire fucking article!

One day we will get to go to a movie made by hollywood so we can truly understand our misunderstood American hero president. And how brave you have to be to send troops to kill men, women, and children. How strong you must be to break international law and torture prisoners in secret prisons. You know, as soon as they can get the batman guy to do it.

Man, that hurt just typing that dribble. I sure don't know how that guy wrote a whole article about that shit. LMAO

The Treatment of Bush Has Been a Disgrace

Quote
Earlier this year, 12,000 people in San Francisco signed a petition in support of a proposition on a local ballot to rename an Oceanside sewage plant after George W. Bush. The proposition is only one example of the classless disrespect many Americans have shown the president.

According to recent Gallup polls, the president's average approval rating is below 30% -- down from his 90% approval in the wake of 9/11. Mr. Bush has endured relentless attacks from the left while facing abandonment from the right.

This is the price Mr. Bush is paying for trying to work with both Democrats and Republicans. During his 2004 victory speech, the president reached out to voters who supported his opponent, John Kerry, and said, "Today, I want to speak to every person who voted for my opponent. To make this nation stronger and better, I will need your support, and I will work to earn it. I will do all I can do to deserve your trust."

The WSJ just don't quit. Here is another poor, misunderstood Bush story.

As bad as Bush has been, naming a sewage plant after him is definitely "classless disrespect."

Do we really want taxpayer money spent that way?

Krakr, that would be a ridiculas waste of resources, on par with Bush policy.  Let's not lower ourselves to his level.
