Sci Fi Channel orders 'Battlestar' prequel 'Caprica'

Quote
Sci Fi Channel has given the long-gestating "Battlestar Galactica" prequel "Caprica" a series order.

The network has made a significant commitment to the project, ordering 20 hours, including a two-hour pilot. Cast members include Eric Stoltz ("Milk," "Chicago Hope"), Esai Morales ("Jericho," "NYPD Blue"), Paula Malcomson ("Deadwood," "ER") and Polly Walker ("Cane," "Rome").

" 'Caprica' will build on 'Battlestar Galactica's' acclaimed legacy of gripping drama and extraordinary characters," said Sci Fi president Dave Howe. "It's the beginning of a brand new epic saga that will appeal to both new viewers, totally unfamiliar with the 'Battlestar' franchise, as well as existing loyal and passionate 'Battlestar' fans."

Quote
Set 50 years before "Battlestar Galactica," "Caprica" follows two rival families -- the Graystones and the Adamas -- as they grow, compete, and thrive in the vibrant world of the 12 Colonies, a society recognizably close to our own.  Enmeshed in the burgeoning technology of artificial intelligence and robotics that will eventually lead to the creation of the Cylons, the two houses go toe-to-toe blending action with corporate conspiracy and sexual politics. "Caprica" will deliver all of the passion, intrigue, political backbiting and family conflict in television’s first science fiction family saga. As the series begins, a startling development is about to occur -- the creation of the first cybernetic life-form node or "Cylon" -- the ability to marry artificial intelligence with mechanical bodies. Joseph Adama (Morales)  -- father of future "Battlestar" commander William Adama (Najafi) -- a renowned civil liberties lawyer, becomes an opponent of the experiments undertaken by the Graystones (Stoltz), owners of a large computer corporation that is spearheading the development of these living robots: the Cylons.

After watching almost 3 seasons of Galactica, I have to say, it's like sci-fi crack. I've seen many a sunrise while watching it. LMAO

That's sort of hard for me. I watch sci-fi channel all the time. LOL

Feel free to register any guesses on the last cylon. I still think it's the traitor Gaius Baltar.

It can't be just a coincidence that the same cylon that is in his hallucinations is having the same hallucinations with him in them. Sounds like a bug in their programming to me. LOL

Plus, how did he survive the nuclear explosions on the planet he lived on? He was there when the invasion started.

They are just as subceptable to radiation poisoning if not more so as us so that makes no sense. But the connection thing does point to him being one and that's why I think it wont be. But hell if you want to hise something, sometimes the best place to hide something is in plain sight.... so who knows!

It does make sense if he died and was resurrected in their little machine because he's a cylon. LOL

I'll bet the radiation while they were uploading is what caused the hallucination glitch in the first place. LOL

'Battlestar Galactica's' Ron Moore addresses the shocking developments of 'Sometimes a Great Notion'

Quote
An interview with “Battlestar” creator Ronald D. Moore on the choice of the final Cylon, Dualla’s death, what’s up with Starbuck and more. Questions are in bold type, answers are in regular type.

Why Ellen?

There’s a certain logic to it. I sort of figured out early on that I liked the pairing of her and Tigh. [I liked] that there was something deeper to their marriage and deeper to their relationship, that it was literally a relationship that had transcended time and space, that it was very ancient that had gone on for a very long time. It was something that was [mentioned] in the pilot for “Galactica.”

In the miniseries, Tigh is burning her photo, right?

Yeah, and the very first scene that he’s in, he gets upset because Starbuck is pushing his buttons about her, “What about your wife?” And he kicks over the table and then she slugs him.

There was something really appealing about the idea that of the final five, the two of them were a pair, and they were THIS pair -- you know, as drama-ridden as their relationship had been, the idea that there had always been something deeper and more profound at its center, I always really, really liked.

Oh yea she was supposed to be dead at the begining of the show.... Maybe she was and was resurected....They all suspected her of being a Cylon right?  Maybe she is their leader and has all the answers!
