That is the first thing I always say when I hear that someone is religious. "What?"

But, maybe I should say "Why?"

How could you base your life on a book that was written over 2000 years ago? Your still living in the stone ages. And where is the evidence that is even true and not made up? Scientific evidence. Not folklore.

It's basically history, which isn't all bad. What makes it bad is when people try and interpret it and use it as a guide to how we all should live our lives. That's a pretty shallow way to decide who your maker is, and relies entirely on faith.

Religion is something that should come from knowledge, not faith.

So reading the bible isn't a bad idea, take it for what its worth. Its got some truth in it, but its not meant to be interpreted. It only provides a story, with scattered facts about a time in history, and a man that was one of the first to gain enough knowledge about religion to become known as the son of god himself.
Was he the son of god? There's absolutely no proof to say for sure, so its best we assume he was not. But I still have respect for what he knew, and how he used it.

Religion is nothing but man's fear of death. Hence the eternal life. So we are the only animals on this planet that doesn't really die? That is a very naive way of looking @ things.

yea, I agree. Fear of death, fear of the unknown, it's about the same thing. Fear. And fear is not something you really want to base the outlook of your life on. In my opinion. I prefer to base such things on science. Proven fact.

yuup, i dont understand why people fear shit like that.  We can't control it, understanding it, or over  power it, therefor it must be bad.

That's the problem with faith, you have to believe in something with no basis of fact. I don't doubt that we were created by something, whether it's a etheral spirit in the sky or a race of aliens so far advanced in tech and years that they seem god like to us due to our mortality. The human body is to good of a bio machine to have been a purely accidental phenomenon. The bible could have been a book of truth of what created man back when it was originally written, but it has been written and rewritten so many times I doubt it is even remotly close to it's original text no matter what the church says. I wasn't there when it was written so for me it's a story book. There is a group of people who believe you should read the bible and take its meaning astrologically, can't remember right now who or what their name is but I'll see if I can find it on the internet. It's pretty interesting when you apply astrology to the bibles storys. I don't have a problem with people moulding their lives to the beliefs of their religion as long as they don't enchroach on mine. It's the bible thumping loud mouths that constantly quote scripture and expect the world to conform to their standards that piss me off... It's called free will jerks.. live it.... beleive it..... fuck it....

Yea, I've heard of this too. I've got a friend of mine I aint seen in a long time that used to talk about that. It has something to do with the missing dead sea scrolls I believe. But I could be wrong. Those were long days and nights back then and some things might have gotten lost. It's been a while since I defragged my on-board computer (my brain LOL) but the hdd is usually pretty stable. LMAO

I'm not very knowledgeable in biblical history, I wasn't raised that way. My father was athiest and he let me form my own opinion on my beliefs. I guess you would classify me as agnostic although i don't like to be classified as anything because as I grow older life changes and it changes me. I know very little about the Dead Sea Scrolls only that they are real old... before Jesus supposedly..

Your lucky. I grew up southern baptist. In all their glory and hypocrisy. Hence my hatred of all things religious.

The story with the dead sea scrolls, if I remember correctly, was that all the references to aliens were taken out by the church & became the old testament. Their are lost scrolls that are supposed to explain why we are here and where we came from. That we were nothing more than a cloning experiment.

That all races on the planet were clones and genetic experiments. The white race was an exact clone of the aliens. Like boba fett. No tampering. LOL All the rest of the races were genetic experiments blending different dna with others, including indigenous species. Can anybody say "moon cricket"? LMAO

Also, the people in the old testament that lived an unusually long life (ie-Moses lived for 900 years) was because they were some the aliens left to oversee the experiment. My hatred of things religious means I too don't know much from the bible, but aliens make alot more sense than some all mighty creator.

I definatly can see an alien race that has been around for say a million years, with technology advancing in a steady pace like on earth in the last 100 years being able to cross the galaxy and populate planets. People just think that because the universe is so fucking big thats it's not possible. I will give them that, the universe is big LOL....

Here is a little FYI on just how big the universe really is...

A light year is defined by how far light travels in one year. Light travels 186,000 miles a second. There is 31,536,000 seconds in a year so multiply that number by 186000 and you get 5,865,696,000,000 miles.....LOL That is one light year. The nearest galaxy to us is the Canis Major galaxy and it is 25,000 light years away.... It would definalty take a completly different form of travel to cross these distances, magnetics, worm holes, Warp Drives LOL.... You would think that a race that has been around for a million years with common advancements would be able to achieve this especially if they are in our same galaxy.

What it really boils down to is that if a person believes in God then that is a sign of a moron that can't handle REAL life without a crutch. All over the media, people look down on, feel sorry for, and persecute drug addicts and alcoholics, but no one says anything about these religious idiots who don't just kill for their fix, they kill for their beliefs. And that is much messier. If you look back over history and add up all the people that have been killed in the name of GOD, you would have a number that would make Hitler look like a fucking cake maker.

"If God did not exist, it would be necessary to invent him"

If God did not exist, it would be necessary to celebrate until the end of time.

Anybody that believes in god is a fucking simple minded moron that should be put out of their misery. Why don't you do us all a favor and put the pistol in your mouth. That way, your stupid ass won't fuck it up. Then pull the trigger!
