I think it's the Jedi Council. Why would they allow him to be trained when they all knew something bad was going to happen if they did? It aint like they couldn't have told Obi-Wan no and that would have been the end of it. I mean, they are the Jedi Council. What was Obi-Wan going to do? Quit? He just made Jedi Knight. I doubt it.

Actually Obi Wan would have quit, he told Yoda he promised Qui Gon when he was about to die that he would train Anakin no matter what. I think it is all Anakins fault, as he thought he was better than everyone else. He thought he was a better saber fighter than Yoda, and his prowess as a star fighter didn't help his ego either. Plus when talking to Padme in AOTC he even said that the republic needed to be told what was is good for it, hence he should be the one to rule. He thought he was so bad ass that just because Palapatine made the Council place him on it that he should be granted Master status.... How presumptious was that? He didn't take the tests, he had shown many times that he was ruled by his emotions (very un jedi like) and in the council room he even got pissed off at them. He did not deserve the title of Jedi Master because of his anger which made him a perfect canidate for a Sith Lord....

So let the motherfucker quit. @ the time, he had just became a knight from a padawan. The whole council was against it, and just because Obi Wan threatens to quit, they change their minds? I don't know. It seems to me they were tempted by him being the "chosen one". They couldn't resist it and it bit them in the ass in the end. LOL

He murdered women and children, although sand people I still think the Council would not have liked that and he married Padme, another big time no no. Not to mention always gettin pissed off and bitching about Obi and the council not giving him what he wanted... Guess waht fucko thats why it's is called the Jedi Academy not the Jedi Master give away..... It's a school and you have to pass in order to advance... LOL

Another thing I just thought about, was there a part of any of the new movies where it was confirmed that the council actually knew what he did to those sand people, or did they just know that something really bad happened involving anakin? Did yoda sense the pain that anakin was feeling about his mother dying, or was it the pain the sandpeople were feeling as they were being sliced and diced?

No there is nothing directly saying that the Council knew about Anakins murder of the Sand People. Yoda does hint in ROTS that Anakin is losing his way but I don't know if yoda actually knew of the deaths or knew that Anakin had done something very bad...
