Why
Linux?

Well the
first
reason
that comes to mind is because M$ blows! They know they can do whatever
they want and 90% of people will have to just eat it because they don't
know anything about computers. I know a little bit about
computers
and I saw stuff I just didn't understand. Just try turning off your
auto update and make it ask you what to do when it's time for an update
and read through the explanations for what the updates are for. It will
amaze you. I guess the last straw was when something krazy happened
after one of my M$ updates (most people probably don't even notice this
stuff happening. I don't do auto updates because I like to know what is
going on with the computer that I paid hard earned money for. Alot of
hard earned money.
Well, anyway, I saw a new user on my computer called ASP.netMach... I never made this account! Password protected at that. I don't know the password. That is malware or spyware in my book. M$ has put something on my computer and I have no idea what it is for. FUCK YOU BILL GATES! Now I boot winders once a week to look for updates and run an occasional virus/spyware scan. The rest of the time, I am in wonderful Linux.
With Linux, I get hundreds of programs right out of the box. Not to count the probably thousands in the repository. That would all cost money on M$. If your a web developer like I am, Linux is the only way to go. Web Page editors, javascript embedder, javascript console, php coder, pearl, python, xml, you name it. It is a broke developers dream come true. LOL.
I don't have to run any anti-virus, just the firewall that's in the router. I have been all over the internet and haven't picked up anything. Everytime I search google for Linux viruses, mostly I get april fools jokes. From what I've read, most of the Linux exploits happen to people running old shit.
Since I have been using linux, I have never seen it use more than half the installed ram (1GB). It takes M$ three quarters of the installed ram just sitting idle. The cpu has never gone over 50%. Norton uses 100% of the CPU when it is updating or scanning.
There is more than enough reasons to make the switch to Linux. I aint going to lie, it aint easy learning a new operating system and file system. It aint easy learning how to use new software. You say to yourself "I know winders, and I don't know shit about Linux". When you started on winders, you didn't know shit about it either. You will learn just like you did before. There will be days you want to quit. There will be days you have to boot winders just to get a certain thing done. But it is worth it. It will come. Just give it time. And one day you'll look up, and your a linux user. It just happens.
